Leuchie hosts Parliamentary reception at Holyrood
A cross departmental team of health and tech professionals from Leuchie were delighted to have the opportunity to speak with MSPs about the work we're doing to reimagine respite beyond the walls of Leuchie House and the break, and to highlight why vital respite breaks matter.
With thanks to Martin Whitfield MSP who sponsored this event after a visit here last month, we were able to take our joint expertise and show those who attended the work we're doing at Leuchie to improve health, to enable independence and to reduce loneliness. The team delivered live demos on how our services can help intervene and prevent illnesses and hospital stays and how technology can increase independence. There was even a mini circuit to experience the Trekinetic's agility and how this all terrain wheelchair enables guests to go that bit further afield.
In advance of the National Care Service (Scotland) Bill being presented to parliament in January we hope these ongoing discussions will support the Right to Respite, as part of this Bill.
