Meet Elizabeth

Elizabeth McDowell, Head of Enabling Technology

With a background in systems development and management, Elizabeth has been working with technology for 30+ years. She began working part time for Leuchie in November 2019 as a Digital Skills Assistant, assisting guests 1-1 with their accessibility and assistive technology needs.

During the COVID lockdown, Elizabeth completed a feasibility study to develop the Centre of Enabling Technology at Leuchie by integrating and expanding SMART Technology and environmental controls throughout the facilities with the aim of supporting guests to better manage their condition and live more independently through the use of technology.

This study successfully attracted funding from the RS Macdonald Charitable Trust, the Wolfson Foundation and the National Lottery Community Fund and from September 2021, Elizabeth began to develop Leuchie’s Centre for Enabling Technology.

Now, as Head of Enabling Technology, Elizabeth regularly shares knowledge with her networks of technology development partnerships and gives regular talks to carer and health coalitions, such as the Alliance (link) and SCVO, VOCAL and the Carers Sumit Scotland. She currently chairs the Scottish Consumer Technology Network (STTN).
