Leuchie's flagship event raises over £83,000

The Big Ascot Bash was back at Prestonfield House for a third year running and guests and sponsors raised a fantastic £83,000. Due to the overwhelming generosity of James Thomson of Prestonfield, who donated the entire cost of the event, Leuchie will receive every pound of that amount so that we can use it to continue our work in providing vital respite breaks and services for those families who need it. Huge thanks also to No.12 Hotel & Bistro for their continued support of the event.

250 guests attended for Ascot themed glitz and glamour, delicious food and racing themed fun to hear about our charity's work, about our vision and why we need to fundraise £1.5milliion a year. The event was hosted again by Natasha Raskin Sharp, and we welcomed co-host, Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist, Edward Reid, for the first time who raised the roof with his magnetic energy.

We heard from Lois Sinclair who spoke with Leuchie chair, Stephen Pearson, about what Leuchie meant to her and her beloved husband Colin, who was a regular guest at Leuchie and who sadly passed away recently, two days before he was due to stay with us. Lois was determined to come to tell our guests the importance of Leuchie to families living with neurological conditions for whom respite is a necessity. And not just any respite. Respite that is fun, full of love and care, expert nursing around the clock, therapies and help with enabling tech. Things that benefit the individual and their carers way beyond the break.

It was a fantastic day with familiar faces from past years at our Ascot bash and it was really good to meet new faces. The love and support for the charity was palpable.
