Iain Elder is wheeling 100 miles in 31 days

Iain Donaldson-Elder is a regular guest at Leuchie and much loved by all of us. He suffers with Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. He was diagnosed in 2009 and has since raised funds for different charities. Since 2017 Iain and his wife, Jaz, have raised money for 2 charities; Leuchie House and The Walk with Scott Community, which was begun in 2013 by the late Scott Glynn MBE and which raises funds for local charities and community projects in East Lothian.

Iain says "These 2 wonderful charities do so much good both for their community and, in the case of Leuchie, nationally. As a small homage to Cpt Sir Tom Moore I will be wheelchairing 100 miles around my local park over the 31 days of August come rain or shine. To an able bodied person 100 miles over 31 days is not a huge challenge, but to a wheelchair user who is not really in the best of shape 100 miles is like climbing Everest! We raised over £3,400 last year split between the two charities. Our target this year is £1,000. With Covid 19 and people struggling then it is difficult for people to give when they need all their pennies. Every donation counts, lots of little amounts add up to large amounts."
