Christmas Fair boost for Leuchie

This year’s Christmas Fair at Leuchie House has raised 50% more than in 2015.

The festive fundraising event on Saturday 26 November brought in £4,000 for the East Lothian charity.

This is the second year Leuchie has organised a Christmas Fair to raise funds and it’s now set to become an annual fixture on the charity’s fundraising calendar.

The event at Leuchie House featured more than 20 stalls, selling products from a wide range of local and national businesses, and provided a unique setting for Christmas shopping.

Home baking, mulled wine, live music and a prize-winning raffle added to the occasion. Pupils from The Compass School in Haddington popped in too to entertain shoppers with Christmas carols and songs.

Leuchie’s Community and Events Fundraiser, Tracy Lonie said: “We’re so pleased at the support we’ve had for this year’s Christmas Fair. We thought last year’s event would be hard to beat, so you can imagine our delight to find we’d raised 50% more! So many people played a big part in helping us achieve such a fantastic total: the stall holders, other local businesses and supporters who donated goods and services, the singers and musicians who performed on the day, the army of volunteers and staff who helped out before, during and after, and of course all the people from near and far who came along on the day. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone of them.”

The money raised will support Leuchie’s work providing essential respite breaks for people with MS, Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy, stroke and other long term physical conditions.

Following the success of this year’s Christmas Fair, Leuchie has already set the date for next year! The 2017 Christmas Fair at Leuchie House will take place on Saturday 2 December.
