Disability influencers give Glen View top marks

Recently we welcomed Jimmy and Lauryn from 'The Adventure of Jimmy and Lauryn' to Glen View for a long weekend.

Jimmy has cerebral palsy and his PA, Lauryn is not only Jimmy's best friend but Jimmy's brother's partner. They share their daily diary of living life to the full whilst dealing with the obstacles that face them, through their uplifting videos to over 160,000 followers on social media.

We're always working to reimagine respite in new and innovative ways so that your holidays can be the best they can be in terms of ease, comfort, independence and enjoyability. To get Jimmy and Lauryn to experience a weekend at Glen View and get their opinion on what was good and what could be better is such a great learning opportunity for us.

Well, it's fair to say they thoroughly enjoyed Glen View and gave it top marks.

The Caravan has everything you need if you’re disabled. From mobile hoists to shower chairs, they have it all in the outdoor storage container, which you can access as and when you need it. Few places have all of this equipment available to use for FREE for guests so we think this is fantastic!

Starting in the accessible bedroom. There was a profiling bed and carer bed with plenty of space for a safe transfer with the mobile hoist.

Then into the wet room. There were grab rails, a heightened toilet and a shower chair. We ended up putting this in the storage container outside as we always bring Jimmy’s with us when we travel.

Into the Kitchen/Passage. There was plenty of accessible cutlery, and everything was at a great height for Jimmy to see when cooking. The passage was wide, so Jimmy managed fine in his wheelchair with his movements.

Into the sitting room. There was plenty of space, however, we ended up moving the dining table and high-back chair because of Jimmy needing more space because of his movements in his comfy chair. I do have to point out Jimmy’s comfy chair is big and moving these bits of furniture meant that we could all sit together to watch TV.

Finally, on to the outdoor area. There were double doors leading outside and Jimmy had access to the full decking area around the caravan. There were two storage containers near to the back to the caravan what we accessed to store and remove the equipment which is available to guests.

Overall, we are so grateful to have been gifted this stay to share with you all. We have had an amazing time and think this caravan can benefit so many disabled people, as the size of the caravan and equipment which is available is great!
