About us
Leuchie is a national respite charity which provides transformational holidays for people living with neurological conditions such as MS, MND & stroke, and helps carers and families have a break from caring responsibilities themselves.
We provide over 300 breaks a year at Leuchie demonstrating the scale of people who have unimaginably difficult lives and the number of people facing these challenges is growing.
You would be joining us at an exciting time as we look to double our impact by 2026 and develop our services to help more people. There is some flexibility in the scope of the role for the right person and we will support anyone wishing to evolve and develop both themselves and the wider organisation.
What you will be doing
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations and working with a range of people throughout the organisation, you will;
- Provide book-keeping and financial support to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls and robust compliance.
- Have ownership of banking and credit card management.
- Be the key contact for external audit and other stakeholders including customers, suppliers and banks.
- Work with the fundraising team to reconcile income between finance and fundraising systems.
- Ensure payments and filings to HMRC are made to deadlines (NI, PAYE and VAT).
- Manage cash flow by following up on funding information and managing debt collection for unpaid invoices, including issuing of debtor statements.
- Process salary payments, including payment of pensions, wages attachments and PAYE / NI.
- Payment of employee and volunteer expenses authorised by budget holders.
- Undertake projects and support wider management and fundraising teams as required
- Depending on experience and hours; there is the option to also take on additional elements such as payroll, monthly management accounts, budgeting, etc.
To be successful you’ll need
- Excellent bookkeeping and banking experience.
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
- Good computer skills and literacy with financial software packages (ideally Xero).
- Comfortable using databases, spreadsheets and Microsoft Office.
- Strong literacy and numeracy.
- Good communication, interpersonal, organisational and team interaction skills.
- Excellent prioritisation skills and a flexible approach.
- Problem-solving skills with a positive can-do attitude.
- Strong attention to detail whilst managing a busy workload.
- Build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Ability to work unsupervised and to use initiative.
- Desirable: Bookkeeping or Accounting qualification.
- Desirable: Experience in areas like payroll VAT and HMRC returns.
- Optional: Exposure to management accounts, month end and budgeting.
