Ron Shaw & Wendy Weatherby
Formerly a theatre staff nurse at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, Ron is a cellist and composer who has played and recorded with many of the leading musicians on the traditional music scene, including The Boys of the Lough, Kathryn Tickell, and The Cauld Blast Orchestra.
Ron has also worked extensively as a composer and cellist for theatre productions throughout Scotland.
Wendy has worked as a cellist, singer, teacher and composer, as well as performing in numerous theatre productions, including Bill Bryden's The Ship and The Big Picnic, and Wildcat's The Jolly Beggars for which Ron Shaw composed the music.
She has written music for shows by Wee Stories, Lung Ha's and films shown on BBC2 and Channel 4. Two major commissions for Celtic Connections resulted in recordings of Sunset Song (based on the novel by Lewis Grassic Gibbon) and Daybreak on the World's Edge ,both of which also featured Ron.
Wendy has three solo albums available and has guested as both cellist and singer on many more. She currently performs with her own band, teaches Scots song at the NCETM in Plockton, and regularly collaborates with storyteller Andy Cannon.
She is looking forward to working again with Ron Shaw, whose playing of Scottish music on the cello was her first introduction to that art, and continues to be an inspiration!
