North Berwick Pipe Band

Celebrating their sixtieth birthday this year, the North Berwick Pipe Band brought a fantastic set of traditional Scottish music to Hops in the Garden last year, so we're delighted they're back with another wonderful skirl of the pipes at Hops 2017!

About the band

There have been several pipe bands in North Berwick since the early 1900s but the present North Berwick Pipe Band was formed in 1957. They are all about encouraging and promoting piping and drumming in North Berwick and the surrounding area and take part in many local galas and other community events throughout the year. Band members also compete in some of the country’s annual competitions. The band made three tours to the USA during the 1980s and 1990s and has represented East Lothian at the Folklore Festival in eastern Germany since 2003. In July and August each year, the band’s Wednesday evening performances in North Berwick’s Lodge Grounds – which include Highland dancers from Dunedin Dance Academy – are well supported by locals and visitors alike. The recent formation of a juvenile band has broadened membership and age range and new members of all ages and abilities are always warmly welcomed.
