About Leuchie House
This is a really exciting time to join Leuchie! As a charity we are dedicated to delivering a unique, fully integrated health and social care service, built around our bespoke five star quality assurance framework based on professionalism, wellbeing and customer service.
Set in the beautiful East Lothian countryside beside North Berwick, Leuchie House is a national respite centre offering short breaks to people with a wide range of long term conditions including multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s. We cared for people with 31 different conditions in 2016.
We enjoy a country house feel at Leuchie, rather than a clinical atmosphere, with the emphasis as much on social care as on health. We are at the forefront in person-centered care and offer physiotherapy and a variety of activities and entertainment throughout each guest’s stay.
The learning and development of our staff is crucial as we strive to deliver a wide range of opportunities and experiences. We are delighted to be an official partner of Queen Margaret University working together on health and social care, research and co-production.
As a care assistant at Leuchie House, you will be one of the key people helping to ensure our guests have the best possible respite break.
Working as part of our dedicated nursing and care team, you'll provide individualised personal care to our guests. This could involve helping guests get up and about in the morning, assisting them at meal times, giving them support throughout the day, and helping them get ready for bed.
A break at Leuchie is about much more than just a change of care environment for our guests though. It's about helping them do new things, try different experiences, make new friends and have fun. That's one of the things that makes Leuchie different, and you'll be an important part of that too! You'll get involved in our daily activities programme, which includes everything from arts and crafts, to strolls in the grounds, to quiz nights, to cocktail evenings. You'll also accompany guests on outings around East Lothian and Edinburgh, so your day could involve a stroll round the Botanic Gardens, or a trip to the Scottish Seabird Centre, or out for a pub lunch, or even helping a guest take off on a microlight flight!
If you've already worked in a caring environment, we'll do everything we can to help you keep developing your skills and experience.
If you're new to care, we'd still love to hear from you. A friendly, caring, person-centred approach is one of the most important things we ask of our care assistants. Through our comprehensive induction and training process, we'll make sure you get all the support and skills you need to deliver the five star service Leuchie is famous for.
In return, we can offer you a great package of benefits, a special place to work, and a chance to be a light in the lives of people living with long term conditions.
